According to the computer logs of our lab, a severe malfunction has occurred to the “Crystal Laboratory Overlord Wireless Nano-computer,” known as the “C.L.O.W.N.” It has transformed the entire lab into a massive maze. We are recruiting people to pilot the probe and fly into the lab to retrieve the crystals and shut down this malfunctioning computer.

The game title “P.R.O.B.E.” refers to the unmanned space drone in the game, which players control to navigate the maze-like laboratory and retrieve all crystals. This is also the way to shut down the C.L.O.W.N., as it uses crystals as its power source.
