Dot (Digital Board Game)

The winner of Red Dot Award (Germany)

in entertainment category on October 23rd, 2010.

”Dot” is a digital board game featuring a spherical, borderless board with science-fiction pieces such as robots, transporters, and satellites. Since the spherical board has no boundary and all pieces can move without step limits, the experience of playing “Dot” differs significantly from traditional board games.

Although the spherical board is a three-dimensional object, its surface is essentially a two-dimensional manifold, making the winning strategy similar to traditional flat board games. However, players must carefully consider all possible routes on a spherical surface, making comprehensive observation a critical skill for success.

Two players can compete using the same device or two separate devices linked via the Internet. The game delivers an excellent experience, especially on multi-touch devices. Key actions such as moving and capturing pieces are elegantly executed through intuitive multi-touch gestures.

Several hotkeys at the bottom of the screen allow players to easily adjust the board's orientation and display modes. Two timers on the left side track each player's time during competition. A rotating diagram on the right side provides real-time reference of piece positions on the board.
