Summer Taipei (Tilt-shift & Time-lapse Photography)
In the summer following my university graduation, I had the opportunity to lead a film project in Taipei. Rather than take the easy route of typical postcard-style photos, I chose to pursue a more challenging approach: tilt-shift photography combined with time-lapse cinematography.
The most challenging aspect of creating this film was finding suitable elevated locations with the right camera angles. The team had to first select a scene to film, then locate a nearby high vantage point—usually a building rooftop—to set up the camera.
We used time-lapse effects to compress our footage into a shorter duration, capturing viewers’ attention while preserving all the best moments. The colors were enhanced to compensate for overcast lighting conditions, and we added upbeat background music to capture the vibrant atmosphere of everyday life in beautiful Taipei.
